Financial Instrument Taxation Adviser
The role is based in Jakarta for up to 60 working days until June 2017.
The successful candidate will lead a financial sector taxation review, conducting analysis and comparative overview of regulations impacting financial instruments and the sector. This review will identify loopholes and barriers encountered by tax and financial regulators, and develop recommendations for improvements and changes. The review will recommend training and capacity building opportunities in the relevant regulatory agencies and tax administration.
The candidate will possess strong qualifications and experience to support labour market economic policy making processes, including:
Senior level academic qualifications in finance, economics or law (or related areas) with a research record of achievement.
A minimum of 15 years’ professional experience in reviewing tax policies for the financial sector, preferably in developing countries of similar size and complexities as Indonesia.
Demonstrated understanding of financial markets and instruments, including Islamic finance, in developing countries.
Experience in working across complex policy areas to deliver influence and outcomes.
Understanding of the role of government policy making processes and familiarity with government decision-making mechanisms, preferably in Indonesia.

The remuneration will be set within the Adviser Remuneration Framework (ARF) which can be found on the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade website (https://dfat.gov.au/about-us/publications/Documents/adviser-remuneration-framework.pdf). Remuneration may be set up to a level of Discipline Group D, Job Level 4, depending on the applicant’s skills and experience.
